Led by horror author, tutor and lecturer Charlotte Baker, this course that provides the practical and theoretical ideas of writing in the horror genre, with a focus on celebrating women authors. The concepts of originality and effective writing underpin the course, with tips and hints to help you refine your work and your own writing portfolio. The course will include sessions on defining horror and sub-genres, looking at favourite monsters in horror, why they are so effective and examining the effectiveness of atmosphere in horror and establishing its importance in building suspense. Also, an individual critique of a piece of writing of up to 500 words.
